What is the NDIS?

The NDIS stands for; National Disability Insurance Scheme.

The NDIS provides funding to people with disability to assist gaining greater independence, new skills, jobs or volunteering in their community, and an improved quality of life.

The NDIS provides connections to doctors, community groups, sporting clubs, support groups, libraries and schools, as well as providing information about what support is provided by each state and territory governments.

How do I apply?

You can visit the Am I eligible page to complete an NDIS checklist and see if you might be eligible.

If you think you might be eligible and want to apply;

Make a verbal application by calling 1800 800 110
Complete an Access request form and return it to NAT@ndis.gov.au or GPO Box 700, Canberra, ACT 2601

If you need help to apply, contact your local area coordinator, early childhood partner or NDIS office.

What is a Provider?

A provider is a person, business or organisation who delivers NDIS funded supports to participants.

Providers have different areas of experience and expertise.

Providers can be either large companies, charities, small not-for-profits, sole traders, or any other type of business.

NDIS registered providers are regulated by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

All providers (registered or unregistered) must adhere to the NDIS Code of Conduct.

If your NDIS funding is NDIA-managed, you can use NDIS registered providers to deliver your services.

Participants who self-manage or have a plan manager their NDIS plan funding can use NDIS registered providers or unregistered providers.

Creating your Plan

A plan is written agreement worked out with you. Everyone's plan is different.

It will cover how you are going in different areas of your life, what goals you would like to purse and what kind of help and support you need.

This information will be used to develop a plan that provides the right support for you.
